VILLAM has its own memoQ server, which makes remarkably modern workflows possible.
Here, we describe the process of connecting to the server, the possibility of using mobile licenses, how online works can be performed in the browser, and the creation of a term base.
Connect to the Server
The majority of our projects take place as online projects using the memoQ CAT tool. For online projects, it is necessary for the memoQ software to be installed on the translator’s computer. MemoQ can be used free of charge for 45 days, following which a translator’s license provided by the distributor must be purchased for further use.
Quick TipVILLAM’s memoQ server can be found at easymedia.memoqworld.com
If the translator already has a memoQ license, they will receive the login information (web address, username, password) from VILLAM’s PM in the email that confirms that the job can be started. The translator can log in to download the project in their own memoQ software using the login info and clicking on the ‘Checkout’ button. In addition, the memoQ server also sends a project sharing email, which makes the project accessible by clicking on the attachment (following identification).
If the translator does not have a memoQ license, VILLAM will lend them a mobile license for the duration of the project. We ask that the translator contact the PM to request a mobile license.
QUICK tipThe free version of memoQ can be downloaded from https://www.memoq.com/downloads (we recommend using the ‘memoQ translator pro 9.3’ version).
If at any point a problem should arise, our project managers will be happy to help.
Using Mobile Licenses
If the translator does not have a memoQ license, VILLAM will lend them a mobile license for the duration of the project. We ask that the translator contact the PM to request a mobile license.
The most important things to know about using a mobile license are the following:
There are not many mobile licenses, which is why we ask that if you stop working for a while (e.g. 1 hour), please synchronize your work and log out from the project for the time you are away. When you return, the server will provide you with a (new) license again.
Please do not keep the same downloaded project open on two machines at the same time, because it may result in synchronization problems.
If you lose your license while working, contact the PM, who will help to resolve the issue.
How to Use WebTrans
WebTrans is the joint online interface of memoQ and VILLAM, which allows translators to access VILLAM’s memoQ projects from a browser as well. Its basic functionality is identical to that of the installed version of memoQ.

How to Build a Term Base
The following video provides instructions for translators on how to build and use a term base.
VILLAM asks translators to build a term base because it often is the case that similar orders are expected to recur, and TBs approved by the client render any subsequent projects easier to manage.
