Using Your Work Account

05/15/2019 Updated: 05/15/2020 - By VILLAM Language Services

The Work Account is designed to allow us to keep in touch comfortably in a manner faster than by email, without sending files back and forth.

You can log in to the Work Account using your username and password. It helps us to stay up-to-date with current projects and the status of current payments. VILLAM’s goal is to create full transparency; for example, by logging in to their Work Accounts, translators can keep track of the status of their submitted works or of whether their invoice has arrived yet.

The following menu items are available in the Work Account:

‘My Jobs’ menu item

Under this menu item, requests and current jobs can be seen. This is where the source files necessary for the work can be downloaded for viewing, as well as where the finished translations can be uploaded. If the translator accepts a particular job request, VILLAM will review the job once more and send an email to confirm that the job can be started. At the time of submitting the translation, it is also possible to attach a note regarding the files, if necessary. After submission, the uploaded file can no longer be modified, which is why if changes need to be made, they must be sent by email to our colleague responsible for the project.1 Business Success Villam.png

‘My Invoices’ menu item

Under this menu item, we keep track of invoice requests and invoices sent in response, as well as the dates of their fulfillment. Further information about payment can be found in the ‘Invoicing & Payment’ section.

‘My Calendar’ menu item

The ‘My Calendar’ menu item keeps VILLAM’s project managers informed about the availability of translators at the time of making a request. If a translator is particularly busy during a certain period of time or happens to be on vacation, we ask that they highlight those days in RED. If they are simply occupied with some work, we ask that YELLOW be used: This way, we will know that pinning down a date will require some negotiation.9 Meeting Deadlines Villam.png

‘My Profile’ menu item

The ‘My Profile’ page allows the translator to provide their invoicing and mailing data, tax number, the translation software they use, their language pairs, and fields of expertise. It is also recommended to fill in the sections regarding linguistic and other professional qualifications: If the translator does so, our project managers can better inform themselves on who to send particular technical translation requests to.

‘Settings’ menu item

The ‘Settings’ page makes it possible to enter and change basic data such as name, email, phone number, and password.

‘Sign Out’ menu item

By clicking on the ‘Sign Out’ link, the user of the Work Account can make sure that their data are not accessible to others if they happen to be using the same machine.
